01Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you (“you”, “your”, or “User”) and RexiptPay (“RexiptPay”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) concerning your access to and use of the RexiptPay website, progressive web application, mobile experiences, WhatsApp payment channels, application programming interfaces (where offered), and related products and services (collectively, the “Services”).
By creating an account, verifying your identity, funding a wallet, initiating a transfer or bill payment, or otherwise using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
We may also publish product-specific rules, fee schedules, KYC requirements, or in-app notices. Those materials form part of these Terms to the extent they apply to your use of a feature.
02About RexiptPay and the Services
RexiptPay provides a technology platform that enables eligible users in Nigeria to hold electronic value in a digital wallet, fund that wallet, send and receive payments, pay selected bills and value-added services, manage beneficiaries and statements, and interact with payment assistance features (including chat-based and WhatsApp-based payment flows where available).
Regulatory authorisations, partner banking relationships, and licence details applicable to the Services will be published on this page or in-product as they are issued or updated. Until those details are published, you should treat the Services as technology-enabled payment facilitation subject to applicable Nigerian financial-services and consumer-protection laws.
- Digital wallet balances denominated in Nigerian Naira (₦), including a primary RexiptPay wallet and a RexiptPay Account used for peer sends and bank payouts.
- Funding via linked card, bank transfer into a RexiptPay Account, and other methods we may enable.
- Transfers to other RexiptPay users and to Nigerian bank accounts, including saved beneficiaries and transfer history.
- Bill and value-added purchases such as airtime, data, electricity, cable TV, betting, and education payments.
- Security features including transaction PIN, two-factor authentication (2FA), email and phone verification, and account freeze / recovery flows.
- Conversational payment assistance in-app and, where offered, via WhatsApp or similar channels.
03Eligibility and account registration
You may use the Services only if you can form a binding contract under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. You must be at least eighteen (18) years old. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and current, and that you will keep it updated.
- You must register with a valid email address and/or Nigerian mobile phone number and complete any verification steps we require (email OTP, SMS OTP, or similar).
- You may hold only one personal RexiptPay account unless we expressly authorise additional accounts in writing.
- Corporate, agent, or merchant accounts (if offered) may be subject to separate onboarding, documentation, and contractual terms.
- We may refuse, delay, or condition registration where required by law, risk policy, or incomplete verification.
- The Services are designed primarily for users located in Nigeria and for Naira-denominated activity. Access from other jurisdictions may be limited or unsupported.
You are responsible for all activity under your account credentials. You must not share login details, OTP codes, authenticator secrets, or your transaction PIN with anyone.
04Account security and authentication
Protecting your account is a shared responsibility. We provide security controls; you must use them diligently.
- Transaction PIN: transfers, bill payments, and other sensitive actions require your transaction PIN (or other confirmation we enable). Choose a PIN that is not easily guessed and never disclose it.
- Two-factor authentication: where available, enable 2FA so sign-in requires a one-time code from your authenticator or email in addition to your password.
- Device and channel security: secure the devices and messaging apps (including WhatsApp) you use to access RexiptPay. Compromised devices or linked messaging accounts can enable unauthorised instructions.
- Alerts: monitor transaction and security notifications. Report unrecognised activity to support@rexipt.com without delay.
- Freeze / lock: if your phone is lost or you suspect compromise, use in-product freeze controls or contact support immediately so we can help block outgoing payments where possible.
05Identity verification (KYC) and limits
To comply with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) obligations, and to manage product risk, we require identity verification before certain features or higher limits become available.
- Tier 1 typically involves submission and verification of your National Identification Number (NIN) and confirmation of retrieved identity and address details.
- Higher tiers (including Tier 2 and Tier 3 where offered) may require additional identity evidence, address verification, or other documentation we reasonably request.
- Wallet funding, sending, receiving, and balance caps are tied to your verified tier. Current indicative limits shown in the product (and subject to change) include: Tier 1 — up to ₦200,000 maximum balance and ₦50,000 daily send; Tier 2 — up to ₦500,000 maximum balance and ₦200,000 daily send; Tier 3 — higher or unlimited balance with daily send caps as displayed in-app (for example ₦5,000,000). Always rely on the limits shown in your account.
- We may pause upgrades, reduce limits, or request re-verification if information is incomplete, inconsistent, expired, or flagged by screening systems.
- Providing false, stolen, or third-party identity data is prohibited and may lead to account closure and referral to authorities.
You authorise us and our identity-verification partners to validate your NIN and related data against official or licensed data sources for onboarding and ongoing compliance.
06Wallets and RexiptPay Accounts
Your RexiptPay account may include more than one ledger or sub-wallet. Product labels may distinguish a primary RexiptPay wallet (often used for certain funded balances) from a RexiptPay Account used for RexiptPay-to-RexiptPay sends, bank payouts, and bill purchases. Available balance is what you can spend or transfer immediately; ledger or hold balances may include amounts still settling or temporarily reserved.
- RexiptPay Account: we may issue a NUBAN / account number labelled for funding (for example “Rexipt Bank (Virtual)”). Funds received to that account credit the corresponding wallet subject to successful clearing and compliance checks.
- Wallet status: we may freeze, restrict, or place holds on wallets for security, legal, operational, or risk reasons. Frozen wallets may show zero spendable available balance until restored.
- No interest: unless we expressly advertise otherwise, wallet balances do not earn interest.
- Currency: services are provided in Nigerian Naira unless we enable another currency and disclose applicable rules.
- Reconciliation: displayed balances update after partner confirmations. Temporary discrepancies during settlement windows can occur and will be corrected when clearing completes.
07Funding your wallet
You may fund your wallet using methods we enable from time to time, including bank transfer to your RexiptPay Account and card payments via licensed payment processors. Funding is complete only when we receive confirmation from the relevant bank, switch, or processor and credit your wallet.
- You must only fund from accounts or cards you are authorised to use. Funding with stolen instruments is prohibited.
- Card and transfer funding may be subject to issuer, bank, or processor declines, 3-D Secure challenges, and settlement delays outside our sole control.
- Incorrect transfers sent to a wrong account number or without a valid RexiptPay Account reference may be delayed, rejected, or require manual recovery with no guarantee of success.
- We may reverse or withhold credits that fail compliance checks, appear fraudulent, or were posted in error.
- Chargebacks or reclaim of funded amounts by card issuers or banks may result in a negative or restricted balance that you must repay.
08Transfers, beneficiaries, and chat payments
Subject to KYC limits and available balance, you may send money to other RexiptPay users and to Nigerian bank accounts, save beneficiaries, view transfer references, and generate statements for selected periods.
- Recipient verification: for bank transfers we may display the account name returned by name enquiry before you confirm. You remain responsible for verifying that the recipient is correct before approving the payment.
- Irrevocability: once a transfer is successfully processed to the correct destination, it may be irreversible. Contact support promptly if you believe an error occurred; recovery depends on receiving-bank cooperation and applicable rules.
- Chat and WhatsApp payments: where enabled, natural-language payment instructions through in-app chat or WhatsApp are still subject to confirmation, PIN / approval, recipient checks, and fraud controls. Ambiguous instructions may be declined or require clarification.
- Beneficiaries: saving a recipient does not guarantee future success; banks may change account status, and we may re-validate details.
- Statements and history: records in the app are provided for convenience. Keep copies for your own tax or accounting needs.
09Bills and value-added services
RexiptPay may allow you to purchase airtime, mobile data, electricity tokens, cable television subscriptions, betting wallet top-ups, education payments, and similar products from third-party bill providers.
- You must enter accurate meter numbers, smartcard numbers, phone numbers, customer IDs, and other identifiers. Incorrect details can result in irreversible delivery to the wrong beneficiary.
- Fulfilment (for example electricity tokens or airtime credit) is performed by bill providers and networks. Delivery times and outages are outside RexiptPay’s exclusive control.
- Successful debit of your wallet does not always mean instantaneous fulfilment; check purchase history and receipts for status and tokens.
- Refunds for failed bill purchases are processed according to provider confirmation. Successful deliveries are generally non-refundable.
- Betting and similar services may be restricted by age, location, or provider rules. You are responsible for complying with those rules.
10Fees, pricing, and taxes
Certain transfers, funding methods, bill payments, or premium features may attract fees. Applicable fees are disclosed in the product flow before you confirm a transaction and/or in a published fee schedule. By confirming, you authorise us to deduct fees from your wallet or from the transaction amount as indicated.
- We may change fees prospectively. Material changes will be communicated through the app, email, or website with reasonable notice where practicable.
- Third parties (banks, card schemes, bill providers) may charge their own fees independent of RexiptPay.
- You are responsible for any taxes arising from your use of the Services. Where law requires us to collect or withhold tax, we will do so.
- Promotional fee waivers are discretionary and may be withdrawn or limited.
12Prohibited uses
You agree not to use the Services for any unlawful, abusive, or high-risk activity, including without limitation:
- Money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, identity theft, phishing, social engineering, or handling proceeds of crime.
- Sanctioned persons, entities, or jurisdictions prohibited under Nigerian law or applicable international sanctions programmes we observe.
- Unauthorised access, scraping, reverse engineering, probing, or interfering with RexiptPay systems, APIs, or other users’ accounts.
- Creating accounts with false KYC data or on behalf of another person without lawful authority.
- Using the Services to facilitate illegal gambling where prohibited, sale of illegal goods, or evasion of foreign-exchange or tax rules.
- Circumventing KYC limits, velocity controls, fee structures, or security features.
- Reselling access to the Services or operating as an unlicensed money services business using RexiptPay infrastructure.
- Harassment, hate, or abusive conduct through payment messages or support channels.
13AML, fraud monitoring, and sanctions screening
We monitor transactions and account behaviour for fraud, AML/CFT risk, and sanctions exposure. Monitoring may use automated systems, rules engines, and human review. We may request additional information, delay or refuse transactions, lock accounts, or file reports with competent authorities where required by law. We are not obliged to give advance notice where doing so would compromise an investigation or violate legal duties.
You agree to cooperate promptly with reasonable information requests. Failure to cooperate may result in restriction or closure of your account.
14Suspension, freeze, and account closure
- By you: you may request account closure by contacting support, subject to settling negative balances, completing pending transactions, and completing any required identity checks for withdrawal of remaining funds.
- By us: we may suspend, freeze outgoing payments, limit features, or close accounts for breach of these Terms, legal or regulatory requirements, prolonged inactivity, unacceptable risk, or operational necessity.
- Funds on closure: subject to compliance holds, chargebacks, and applicable law, we will make reasonable efforts to return eligible balances to a Nigerian bank account in your verified name. We may retain amounts needed to cover fees, losses, or legal claims.
- Survival: provisions on liability, indemnity, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and any accrued payment obligations survive closure.
15Intellectual property
RexiptPay, the RexiptPay name and logo, product designs, software, documentation, and content (excluding your personal data and transaction records) are owned by RexiptPay or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for their intended personal (or authorised business) purpose.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from our software or branding except as permitted by mandatory law or our written consent. Feedback you provide may be used by us without obligation to you.
16Privacy
How we collect, use, share, and protect personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Services you acknowledge that processing described in the Privacy Policy is necessary to operate a regulated-style payment product, including KYC, fraud prevention, and partner fulfilment.
17Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law. We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure operation. Third-party banks, switches, card processors, telecom networks, bill providers, messaging platforms (including WhatsApp), and cloud infrastructure may experience outages or delays that affect the Services.
- We are not liable for losses caused by incorrect recipient details you confirmed, compromised devices or credentials under your control, or instructions you authorised.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits, to the extent such exclusion is allowed by law.
- Subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Services in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to RexiptPay in that period for the affected Service, or (b) twenty-five thousand Naira (₦25,000).
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
18Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RexiptPay, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Services, your violation of law or third-party rights, or disputes between you and a payment recipient or bill provider, except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct or fraud.
19Electronic notices and communications
You consent to receive agreements, disclosures, receipts, and notices electronically via the app, email, SMS, push notification, or in-product messages. Notices are deemed received when sent to the contact details on your account or displayed in the Services. Keep your email and phone number current.
Support is available at support@rexipt.com. Response times may vary; typical first replies are within one business day for ordinary requests.
20Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational needs. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or email where practicable. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance, except where mandatory law requires a different process (such as explicit re-consent for certain changes).
21Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Subject to any mandatory alternative dispute resolution or regulatory complaint channels that apply to payment services consumers, the courts of Nigeria shall have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@rexipt.com and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute. Nothing in this section prevents you from lodging a complaint with a competent Nigerian regulator or consumer-protection body where applicable.
22General provisions
- Entire agreement: these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any featured product terms constitute the entire agreement between you and RexiptPay regarding the Services and supersede prior conflicting understandings on the same subject.
- Severability: if any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
- No waiver: failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a reorganisation, merger, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
- Force majeure: we are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, labour disputes, utility failures, cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, or governmental actions.
- Language: these Terms are provided in English. If translated, the English version controls in case of conflict, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
